SURF SCHOOL - ARUGAM BAY
Learn to Surf!
Dylan’s Surf School in Arugam Bay is the only Billabong supported surf school in Sri Lanka. Whether you are a beginner or an intermediate surfer, the Surf School offers classes from the beginning of April to the end of October, which covers the main surf season on the East coast of Sri Lanka. Beginner classes are also running from November to March, when conditions allow!
All surf lesson prices include a surfboard (soft top for beginners) and a rashguard. All classes and packages are done either individually or in small groups (max. 3 persons per instructor). Private classes are conducted when possible, but are difficult to arrange in the high season (June-September).
Several instructors have been accredited by the ISA (International Surfing Association).

Beginners
Beginner classes and packages have the complete beginners in mind, but are also suited for anyone with some experience. You will learn everything from proper pop-up techniques to catching your own waves!
Lessons include:
- Warm up
- Preparations on the beach including safety introduction
- Surfing supported by an instructor
Intermediates
Intermediate classes are aimed at surfers who already know the basics and surf on their own. The focus is put on improving paddling technique, wave selection, pop-up and timing or whatever needs improvement.
Lessons include:
- Warm up
- Introduction of the surf spot
- Surfing together with an instructor

TRANSPORT
Transport costs depend on the distance to the surf spots and can be shared with other students. Also if instructors arrive in separate tuktuks (e.g. in group lessons), their transport costs will be part of the total costs. Usually transport is organized in tuktuks (three wheelers). For bigger groups it's also possible to arrange a jeep.
In case you are staying outside of Arugam Bay and would like us to pick you up from your accommodation, please be aware that it may increase the transportation costs. Also, in the case that you are staying by a surf beach and your lesson will be held at that beach, the transport costs of the boards and instructors will still apply.
The instructors always choose the best location based on conditions and crowds.
